
Fascinating facts about the Australian cockroach
Did you know that there are more than 4000 types of cockroaches all over the world? Roughly 40 of them are described as pests, while the remaining little critters perform beneficial functions in their natural environments. Pretty cool, right?
One of those is the Australian cockroach.) Ironically but not scientifically due to its origins in Africa, which is fortunately found in several tropical areas globally. These little guys love moving out of the warm spots into cooler areas of your basement or your crawlspace, as long as there’s some moisture around. But they’re not too fussy and can get by in drier conditions as long as they have access to water.
Cockroaches are indeed some of the strongest, fastest and toughest beings on earth. They may give some of us the heebie-jeebies, but here are some facts about them you might not have known.

Growth Spurt
Did you know, Australian cockroaches can measure as much as 5 centimeters? Could you imagine if you found one that big! And get this, Jelly’s title of the largest cockroach goes to the Central American Giant Cave Cockroach, which can grow up to 10 centimeters.
